Walking may not be as high impact or require the strength, agility and movement as some other sports but it still places the feet and lower body under considerable strain, particularly for hill climbing or mountain walking.

Injuries most likely to be sustained are strains and sprains.  Having correctly fitting and sufficiently supportive shoes is important part of preventing injury along with ensuring correct biomechanical function.
